We are a Norwegian based company specialised in applying nano technologies on surfaces to make them smoother, more slippery and stronger in order to achieve:

  • Improved membrane performance of polymers and ceramics

Membranes

KEY BENEFITS

By enhancing filter membranes dramatically, our technology allows you to be more competitive, more profitable and more environmentally friendly. More specifically, these advantages are achieved by:

  • Increasing your operating flux two to ten times, depending on membrane material and design, feed, what to filter and membrane pore size. The result therefore allows for much less membrane area for the same filtration job. Alternatively, for the same performance pressure size is reduced to save energy, or both options could be combined in the filtering operations.

  • Often 100 % regeneration of membrane flux, relative to original  pure water flux.

  • Higher filtration rate for environmentally undesirable substances (for instance oils) means less pollution.

  • Less use of energy, chemicals and clean water in the back flushing operation.

  • Our nano coatings are often chemically bonded to the supporting materials to achieve a long lasting performance combined with no health and safety risks

 


 

Screens

By coating all surface areas with our nano technologies, and some times also with other technologies, one will with existing screens and meshes get important operational advantages:

  • Less fouling resulting in added filter or screen productivity due to less frequent cleaning

Plain surfaces

Key applications & benefits

Very many surfaces are subjected to fouling from many types of substances, from biofilm growth etc. A few examples of applications:  Oil tanks, pipes, centrifuges, heat exchangers, buildings’ frontage.

Some others again can achieve improved performance by making the surfaces more slippery so energy use or energy dissipation is less. The latter is an important issue in water pipes, either it is for agricultural irrigation or for hydro power generation. 

In general, the key benefits for all such applications are:

  • Less labour spent on cleaning because it is less frequent and the fouling goes more easily off

  • Reduced cost to filtrate the water which has been used for cleaning

  • Less use of energy during cleaning (less water pressure and less hot water)

  • Less use of energy in pipes due to less friction and less fouling.

  • Less or no use of chemicals

 


 

Polymer structures

Nano fibres add greatly to polymers’ structural strength

Nano fibres are very thin and strong, with diameters ranging from 20 to 200 nanometres. The fibres are mixed in polymers like polyesters, epoxies, etc. with a ratio which is frequently less than 1% in order to achieve the desired effects. This, without increasing the viscosity of the polymers, or other drawbacks. One then obtains strength effects like:

  • Increased tensile strength and modulus E in polyester of 50 % & 25 %, respectively

  • Stress intensity factors in epoxies increase up to 100 %

  • Fracture Toughness improvements of 100 % or more

  • Greatly improved Inter Laminar Shear Strength

  • Increased bonding between polymer layers in e.g. GRP structures.

The nano fibres, in addition to added strength, are also often functionalized to obtain many of the antifouling features which apply for membranes, screens, meshes and other surfaces.

What we do

We offer a variety of services, including:

  • Functionalization of nano particles and nano fibres for each specific application, making them to attract, or alternatively to repel water, oils etc., or to prevent growth of bacteria and fungi, etc.

  • Characterizations (measurements of thickness, structure, etc.) of each coating application

  • Coating on all types of membranes, screens, meshes and plain surfaces

  • Testing of performances (flux, filtration rates, strengths, etc.) of customers’ coated objects, including same performance tests with uncoated objects

  • Licensing of our technologies to those who will use it in their own production of membranes, screens, meshes and other objects
